ASVAB: Shop Information

The Shop Information subtest of the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) assesses a candidate’s knowledge of tools, building materials, and construction procedures. This subtest is designed to evaluate practical skills and familiarity with various trades and construction tasks.

The content of the Shop Information subtest covers a range of topics, including tools (for instance those used in carpentry and gardening), building materials, and construction procedures.

There are two versions of the ASVAB, each with different formats for the Shop Information subtest. The computer-adaptive test (CAT-ASVAB) contains 10 questions and lasts 6 minutes. On the paper-and-pencil version of the exam, however, the Shop Information subtest is combined with the Auto Information in a single subtest that contains 25 questions and lasts 11 minutes.

The computer-adaptive version adjusts the difficulty of questions based on the test-taker’s performance, while the paper-and-pencil version has a fixed set of questions.
