Finding the Mean
The mean is the average of a set of numbers. The mean is calculated by adding all the numbers and then dividing by the number of members in the set. For example, the mean of the set (3, 8, 10) would be calculated like this: (3 + 8 + 10) ÷ 3 = 21 ÷ 3 = 7. The three members of the set are added together, and then the sum is divided by the number of members in the set (3).
