Metric Conversions
The metric system is based on powers of ten: that is, moving up one level (say, from centi- to deci-) means dividing by ten (25 centiliters = 2.5 deciliters), and moving down one level means multiplying by ten (10 kilometers = 100 hectometers). This transition can also be accomplished by simply moving the decimal point. So, for example, 0.003 kg = 0.03 hg = 0.3 dag = 3 g = 30 dg = 300 cg = 3000 mg.
